But it&#8217;s more than that. Dropbox can:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>keep <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dropbox.com\/help\/115\" hreflang=\"en\">multiple versions<\/a> of files;<\/li>\n<li>let other people <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dropbox.com\/help\/19\" hreflang=\"en\">collaborate<\/a>;<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.dropbox.com\/help\/36\" hreflang=\"en\">detect conflicts<\/a> and let you choose which file you want to keep;<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.dropbox.com\/help\/16\" hreflang=\"en\">publish files<\/a> for anyone to see;<\/li>\n<li>synchronize with peers <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dropbox.com\/help\/137\" hreflang=\"en\">over the LAN<\/a> to save bandwidth;<\/li>\n<li>and more.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I really hope that those project catch up, but until then, I won&#8217;t consider them as alternatives.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Projects such as lipsync or SparkleShare are often considered as Dropbox alternative, especially by people who do not actually use Dropbox.
